Topeka police are investigating a suspicious death after a person was found shot at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 1 in the 100 block of NW Holman in North Topeka—officials have not released the deceased's identity or other details.
Constitution Hall in Topeka was a key start of the Lane Trail on the Underground Railroad and will reopen to the public this fall. On Sept 27 the hall will host a free event called Underground Railroad on the Western Frontier from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—bringing together speakers to honor its role for freed people including abolitionist John Brown.
