  • Living the Dream, Inc. hosted its 41st Leadership Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, honoring founders Robert & Jacqueline Bugg and local sponsors. The nonprofit will host a Scholarship and Community Awards Banquet today at 5:30 p.m. as part of a series of events.  WIBW

  • Kansas authors will answer why the state matters at a panel discussion at the Topeka & Shawnee Co.   • Legislators heard varied views on a bipartisan bill that would ban cellphones from bell-to-bell starting next school year — a measure supported by a Senate supermajority and Gov.   • Washburn’s men and women basketball teams swept Emporia State in two games at White Auditorium on Thursday, winning 75-64 and 63-52. The teams will face Newman University today in Wichita as they continue their unbeaten run — a promising matchup for local fans.  WIBW
