- ➤ Kansas Gas Service advises customers to adjust thermostats, clean air filters, and seal gaps as an arctic blast with snowfall is forecast this weekend. The company recommends setting thermostats to 68 to 70 degrees when awake and lowering them when away. WIBW

- ➤ Washburn University President JuliAnn Mazachek was named Executive of the Year by a Topeka based organization and will be honored at a banquet on Feb. 10 at the university's Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center.
