Many families and children enjoyed sledding on Jan.

25 at Quinton Heights and Lake Shawnee as locals took advantage of fresh snow + a newcomer from Texas tried sledding for the first time.

Today, Topeka’s streets still hold 7.2 inches of light, powdery snow as temperatures remain below freezing; crews monitor conditions and plan to plow only if hazardous drifting occurs.

A modest warm-up is forecast for Tuesday, but wintry weather will persist for most of the week.

City officials reported on Sunday that crews treated arterials, collector streets, bridges, and known trouble spots while residential roads are not being plowed due to light, powdery snow; they will monitor conditions and respond to reports if roads become impassable, and some schools have closed today.
