- ➤ The All-American Band Concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at White Concert Hall on Washburn’s campus; tickets are $5 (children 12 and under free) and funds raised will support music student scholarships through Sigma Alpha Iota. WIBW
- ➤ The Kansas Museum of History in Topeka is hosting Kansas Day events with hands-on activities and demonstrations on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free (no fee). WIBW

- ➤ Topeka Public Schools held mid-year ceremonies Tuesday morning at Topeka West, Topeka, and Highland Park high schools to honor seniors who finished requirements early — officials said livestreamed events helped students gear up for next steps. WIBW
- ➤ Hundreds gathered at the statehouse Tuesday for a school choice rally during National School Choice Week. The Kansas Policy Institute and National School Choice Awareness Foundation hosted speakers who urged flexible policies to meet diverse student needs. WIBW
- ➤ Rachel Marlow, the Olathe music teacher named 2026 Kansas Teacher of the Year, received a car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car to support her statewide travel for education advocacy; she will use it to attend conferences and lead professional development workshops. WIBW
