- ➤ More than 140 participants gathered at Westridge Mall this morning to support local nonprofit Sole Reason, which provides shoes to children. Local businesses (Lifestyle Nutrition and Pink Carrot) sponsored the indoor event. WIBW
- ➤ Nearly 75 volunteers gathered at Kay McFarland Garden today to make 275 Valentine’s Day cards for Meals on Wheels recipients in Shawnee, Douglas & Wichita. A follow-up card-making event is planned for Feb. 7 at the Watkins Museum of History in Lawrence. WIBW

- ➤ Local chocolatier Hazel Hill expects to sell hundreds of thousands of chocolate-covered strawberries this Valentine’s Day as customers are urged to order early (in person or online) for pickup or doorstep delivery.
