  • Jared Broyles and Reina Flores host the A.M. Extra livestream at 8 a.m. weekdays on wibw.com & Roku. The program delivers local news, weather, and trending updates to the community.  WIBW
  • The Topeka Home Show will run from 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 1 at Stormont Vail Events Center, featuring over 120 vendors (from countertops to couches) showcasing home improvement ideas.  WIBW

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A gas leak closed an intersection just north of Topeka after the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received reports at 8:16 a.m. of issues at NW 46th St. and NW Levering Dr. (roadways at Green Hills Rd. and Rochester Rd. remain closed).  WIBW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Survivor veterans Stephenie LaGrossa and Danni Boatwright visited Eye on NE Kansas ahead of Survivor 50, which premieres Feb. 25 on WIBW + CBS. The returning contestants, with Boatwright winning Survivor: Guatemala in 2005, discussed how the game has evolved.  WIBW

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Shawnee County Commissioners approved an ad valorem tax exemption for Reser’s Fine Foods’ salad plant at 3728 SE 6th St as the company begins a 90,000 sqft expansion that will add storage and 30 new jobs by 2027 — adding 26 loading doors to ease traffic.  WIBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews will close two K-10 ramps in Lawrence as part of the KDOT South Lawrence Trafficway expansion starting Monday, Feb. 16 until late May. Drivers will use detours along 6th Street, Wakarusa Drive, and Bob Billings Parkway with signs in place.  WIBW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Stormont Vail Health in Topeka celebrated 50 years of cardiac surgery improvements today, recognizing the pioneers whose methods paved the way for safer, modern techniques. The event highlighted advancements that continue to enhance patient care.  WIBW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Special Olympics Kansas launches its Polar Plunge season tomorrow at Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, where participants jump into cold water and wear costumes. Additional plunges are planned for Feb. 21 in Emporia and Feb. 28 at Topeka West High School.  WIBW
