GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews begin improvements on U.S. Highway 24 Monday as KDOT shifts traffic lanes and closes certain K-4/Oakland Expressway ramps in Topeka. Drivers should follow marked detours during these changes through early 2027. WIBW
- ➤ South Kansas Avenue between Southwest 5th and 6th Streets will close Monday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HVAC work at 555 South Kansas Ave (a detour via southbound Kansas Ave, westbound 4th, southbound Topeka Blvd and eastbound 6th is in effect). WIBW
- ➤ Shawnee Co. is hiring summer staff for aquatic centers, looking for 180 lifeguards and 30 cashiers with free American Red Cross certification for those at least 15 years old. Commissioner Aaron Mays said the county will also hire permanent dispatchers and meet with lawmakers on Mar. 3. WIBW
