- ➤ Barry Feaker and LaManda Cunningham announced that a new one-stop resource center for homeless services will open April 7 at the former TRM Children's Palace building on N.W. Harrison St. WIBW

- ➤ Tuesday, the price for a gallon of regular gas in Kansas reached $2.70, up 11 cents from Monday. Analysts say drivers should expect gradual price rises this week as national fuel trends and increased summer demand pressurize the market — local pump prices may change. Kansas Reflector

- ➤ Advisor’s Excel hosted a career event that introduced around 139 high school juniors to real-world skills and company culture on Tuesday at its Topeka office, where interactive sessions taught job interviewing and teamwork. WIBW
- ➤ The Auburn-Washburn Board of Education announced three finalists for superintendent on Tuesday. They will participate in a Day in the District experience on Wednesday, Mar. 11 — candidates include Kellen Adams, Kathleen Collier, and Justin Henry. WIBW
- ➤ Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson visited Whitson Elementary Tuesday morning to kick off Read Across America Week by reading to students and urging families to join in early literacy efforts. WIBW
- ➤ Washburn University will rename its indoor athletics facility to Sneed Indoor Athletics Facility with a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, March 5 at 10 a.m. on campus near S.W. Durow Road + new signage will be unveiled to honor William Sneed, a 1977 graduate. WIBW
- ➤ Most Pure Heart dedicated its renovated gym as The Don Turner Gymnasium on Tuesday to honor the coach who shaped many students during his 32-year career. The school launched a $500,000 fundraising drive to update windows, air conditioning, bleachers, and ceiling insulation (support from local donors is encouraged). WIBW
- ➤ The Boys and Girls Clubs of Topeka planned the Unheard Conference to help teens share ideas about life skills and future careers; it will run March 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (at the Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers, 500 SW Tuffy Kellogg Dr.). WIBW
- ➤ The Kansas Board of Education met in an executive session yesterday to review candidates for a new Education Commissioner (replacement for retiring Randy Watson). The board will shortlist six candidates and announce three finalists later this month. WIBW

- ➤ KU Camp Kesem hosts a free summer camp for children ages 6 to 18 with a parent battling cancer (run by college students), which will be held May 24 to 29 at YMCA Camp Wood in Elmdale. A family and friends day is scheduled for March 29 in Overland Park. WIBW

- ➤ Topeka’s Josh Alters was chosen on Tuesday by Special Olympics Kansas to represent the state at the North America Regional Athlete Congress in Grand Rapids & join 26 athletes for leadership training and personal development. The event will help shape future athlete programs. WIBW
- ➤ The Washburn Ichabods earned seven conference awards, including Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year for coach Brett Ballard, before starting their tournament run. They will open the MIAA Championship Tournament in Kansas City on Thursday at 6 p.m. WIBW
