  • Residents enjoyed the Viking Renaissance Festival this weekend at the Woodshed Event Center, where about 3,000 people saw swordplay, axe throwing and blacksmithing demonstrations. The event will return June 13-14 to offer more Norse-themed crafts (a growing tradition from past festivals).  WIBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty met with local radio and tv representatives (including input from Senator Jerry Moran’s office) on March 21 to discuss industry challenges and proposals to update rules and expand local storytelling. The roundtable focused on modernizing media practices to better serve community needs.  WIBW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Stormont Vail held its monthly Walk With a Doc event Saturday at 9 a.m. at Lee Arena on Washburn University campus to highlight the importance of colon cancer screening + leaders said it drew the second-largest crowd in four years.  WIBW

  • KU will tip off against St. John's in the NCAA tournament second round today at 4:15 p.m. on channel 13; the Jayhawks advanced after beating Cal Baptist 68-60 on Friday night.  WIBW
