  • Helping Hands Humane Society took in over 70 pets and held an adoption event on Saturday that led to 15 adoptions — the nonprofit may extend its adoption specials to help more animals find homes in Topeka.  WIBW

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Shawnee County Fire District #4 responded to a fast-moving blaze on Saturday in the 1200 block of Southwest Hodges Road, working for hours to contain the fire as it spread into Mission Township Fire District and threatened a nearby home.  WIBW

FINANCE NEWS

  • Money Management International is partnering with local governments to guide Topeka residents through high debt and rising credit costs. Recent cases include Mickalla McVay and single mother Kendra Last, who found relief from manageable payment plans (helping to destigmatize debt discussions amid economic pressures).  The Topeka Capital-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Dozens of KU fans gathered at Ichabod Grille on Sunday for the Round of 32 matchup against St. John's. The Topeka Jayhawk Club hosted the watch party that boosted community spirit despite a narrow 67-65 loss.  WIBW
