- ➤ The 34th annual Topeka Competition showcases over 40 three-dimensional art pieces in a national juried exhibition that uses various materials and techniques. The event, which began as a local craft show in 1977, now includes work from 32 artists from 11 states + curator Brittany Keegan and juror Mona Cliff select pieces based on originality and technical skill. - ➤ Topeka City Councilwoman Michelle Hoferer is running for reelection to her District 9 seat to improve city communications and manage the city budget by focusing on better road repairs and the sale of Hotel Topeka. Appointed in 2022 and known for listening to residents, she admits to challenges like email delays—issues she plans to address before retiring—while striving to enhance public engagement. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A Topeka pregnancy care center accepted a settlement offer with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment — it will not renew its 2025 birth center license. The center will continue offering prenatal, postpartum and well-woman care, along with home birth services — but it will stop contracting with KanCare from Sept. 1. WIBW
