- ➤ The final phase of construction at the intersection of southwest 6th and MacVicar Ave begins Thursday, March 27, closing eastbound 6th Ave and the south leg of MacVicar Ave for about 200 feet and reducing westbound lanes—drivers are asked to follow detour signs as work will finish on April 25, weather permitting. - ➤ The Topeka VA Medical Center is holding a Nursing Hiring Fair on Friday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to recruit registered nurses and nursing assistants for its newly renovated Community Living Center—an initiative planned for years that will add 13 beds for long-term veteran care. WIBW
- ➤ On Tuesday morning, Topeka Mayor Mike Padilla and City Manager Robert Perez announced plans to help veterans from Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth settle in the city—Washburn University and the Greater Topeka Partnership will join city officials in hosting a July visit by Fort Riley soldiers to show local job prospects and small business support opportunities.
