  • On Friday, Mar. 27, community partners gathered at Indiana Avenue Church of Christ for a meeting to start the AARP Five-Year Plan aimed at improving life for residents aged 50 and older; the plan is scheduled for completion by 2028.  WIBW
  • Fiesta Topeka returns with spring food sales on April 13, 20, and 27 and June events, leading to a five-day festival starting July 14 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church grounds. Organizers will revive the event’s upbeat community spirit while raising funds for Holy Family School.  WIBW

  • A report from city officials detailed 2025's most dangerous intersections and credited targeted safety improvements with reducing accidents by 5% + efforts aimed at protecting commuters.  The Topeka Capital-Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Manhattan Arts Center is building an outdoor learning space on a former parking lot next to its facility, inspired by a mural from K-State's Frank Hammond.   • Seaman High School students took part in 'Docent for a Day' yesterday at the Kansas Museum of History, where they became exhibit experts and shared their findings with visitors (including local fourth graders) to bring history to life.  WIBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews are repairing waterlines on Southwest Topeka Boulevard at 17th Street, forcing lane shifts and closures for northbound and southbound traffic; all lanes will reopen after temporary pavement repairs in about a week.  WIBW
