ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Police said one person died near Washburn University after a two-car crash around 3 p.m. yesterday—officers are investigating and asked drivers to avoid the area on Southwest 21st Street between Southwest Washburn Avenue and Southwest Jewell Avenue. KSNT
- ➤ Topeka police reported a fatal two-vehicle crash near SW 21st and College Ave at 3:00 p.m.—one person died at a local hospital as investigators examined the scene and urged drivers to avoid the area from SW Washburn Ave to SW Jewell Ave. WIBW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Topeka police responded at about 9 p.m. Friday to reports of a possible shooting inside a residence on the 2000 Block of SW Central Park Ave and, finding no injuries, arrested 20-year-old Jon’Quil R. Phelps, who is charged with aggravated assault—criminal damage to property, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal threat and interference with a law enforcement officer. WIBW
- ➤ During the Saturday morning Central Park cleanup, officers responded to gunfire at around 9:14 a.m.—collecting shell casings for evidence—while volunteers stayed to clean the area and show community resolve. WIBW

- ➤ Stormont Vail Events Center hosted a comedy show on March 29 with AJ Wilkerson headlining at Heritage Hall. Wilkerson uses comedy to share his life with autism, social anxiety, ADHD and depression and he hopes the event will kick off a new intimate comedy series in Topeka. WIBW

- ➤ Road crews in Topeka will close I-70 eastbound from U.S. 75 to U.S. 40 for bridge construction starting at 11 p.m. on April 4 and ending at 10 p.m. on April 6—drivers must follow a detour via Southwest Gage Boulevard and Southwest 10th Avenue. KSNT
- ➤ Radio Free Kansas announced it will broadcast tonight at 10 p.m. on 4960 MHz AM from an undisclosed location—aiming to provide clear news amid local censorship, missing residents, and major policy changes that have left trusted news sources closed.
