- ➤ AAA reported that on Thursday morning the national average for a gallon of unleaded reached $3.26—up 11 cents from last week and 17 cents from last month yet 28 cents lower than a year ago, while Kansas recorded an average of $2.87 with Topeka prices ranging from $2.69 to $2.99. Diesel averaged $3.63 nationally and $3.29 in Kansas, with slight gains from last week. WIBW

- ➤ Shawnee County commissioners approved $1.5M to upgrade Gage Park with accessible play equipment that will be finished by the end of the year. They also approved a $65M bond for a 250-unit affordable housing project at 11th and Quincy—financed through low-income tax credits and offering one, two and three-bedroom units. WIBW
- ➤ Federal cuts may impact Kansas’ energy assistance program that helps lower-income residents heat and cool their homes after Health and Human Services fired LIHEAP staff on April 1. Evergy said it is working with its national trade association while funds already received will be used for the Low-income Energy Assistance Program run by the Department for Children and Families, though its future remains uncertain.
