- ➤ On April 13, more than 30 motorcycle riders and Jeep owners gathered outside Meadows Elementary to pick up an 11-year-old boy following his mother's Facebook call for support against bullying. The school district said it investigates bullying reports and works directly with families to address concerns. The Topeka Capital-Journal
- ➤ Heavy flooding damaged roads and bridges in Nemaha and Marshall counties over the weekend, prompting emergency crews to rescue stranded campers and assess repairs + warn drivers to obey road closures. WIBW

- ➤ The Capital City Chorus will perform Heart to Heart, its 79th annual show, with Fountain City Four plus Flint Hills Four and ReVIVE Quartet at Countryside United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, with free admission and donations welcome. WIBW

- ➤ Shawnee County commissioners voted Monday to set a 640-acre cap on large solar developments, reducing the earlier 1,000-acre proposal. They said the change will balance growth and industry (citing a 13-acre project on SW Auburn Rd as a benchmark). WIBW
- ➤ City Manager Dr. Robert Perez announced that the fleet now includes an electric vehicle outfitted for city inspection with five more scheduled to join soon; he said a Hotel Topeka deal will have an extended due diligence meeting today and urged residents to complete the budget survey open until Friday.
