- ➤ Homestead Assisted Living hosted its annual lunch fundraiser Wednesday to support NAMI Kansas, a program that helps people with mental health challenges + Ray Padilla started the event to raise awareness while community members enjoyed a meal. WIBW
- ➤ The Military Veteran Project is renewing its focus to strengthen prevention, education and community connection for local veterans. Founder Melissa Jarboe said the initiative aims to expand support services after a personal loss in service. WIBW
- ➤ Topeka’s Women’s Fund — part of the Community Foundation — has donated over $700,000 to more than 50 local groups while supporting women through philanthropy. Women can join by donating or applying for grants to uplift one another. WIBW

- ➤ Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea opens May 18 at the Topeka Zoo and travels to four other local spots until Sept. 13, where large sculptures built from beach debris highlight the zoo’s conservation mission and raise awareness on ocean plastic pollution. WIBW

- ➤ JEDO approved an incentive agreement Wednesday, May 13 to support Magellan Financial's Project Omega expansion, which will create 175 jobs and deliver $1.37 billion in economic impact in Topeka over the next 10 years. WIBW

- ➤ Health officials confirmed Tuesday a measles case in an Osage County resident who contracted the disease out-of-state and noted no local spread while a May 3 visit at Topeka Baptist Church exposed attendees, who are urged to avoid work at sensitive facilities until May 24. Kansas Reflector
