ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash early Wednesday at 6:51 a.m. on S.W. Airport Drive and Topeka Boulevard near the Topeka Regional Airport and slowed traffic in the area while no serious injuries were reported. WIBW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kathleen Hayes, 40, of Topeka, was fatally shot Monday at 8:45 a.m. at a house in Highland Park after a disturbance—police said her known acquaintance Anthony Marshall Jr., 47, linked to a bank robbery, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a pursuit with the highway patrol. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal lawsuits have been filed in Kansas on behalf of a 14-year-old Olathe resident alleging that pornography websites broke state law by not using required age-verification methods—measures meant to block minors from harmful online content. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation and a Hutchinson law firm named sites such as jerkmate.com, superporn.com, Titan Websites—chaturbate.com among those accused. Kansas Reflector
- ➤ On May 14th, the Kansas Forest Service warned that proposed federal cuts could reduce its funding by nearly 80%—forcing a 75% cut in services and possible layoffs while curbing wildfire prevention and support for local fire departments.
