COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The DK Impact hosts a community day at the Boys and Girls Club Track, 550 SE 27th St today to honor DK. A Color Run begins at 9 a.m. and an End-of-School Bash follows from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is $30 before May 20 and $35 day-of. WIBW
- ➤ Golfers played at TARC's 35th annual benefit golf tournament on Friday to raise funds for programs that help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event drew 34 teams and auction bidders, making it the organization’s second biggest fundraiser of the year. WIBW
- ➤ The City of Topeka held a group ride covering 5.3 miles on Friday in honor of National Bike Month to promote healthy living and safe cycling. Participants started at City Hall with support from city staff and local biking groups and were advised to wear helmets for safety. WIBW

- ➤ The Evel Knievel Experience sent its last piece – Big Red, a 1974 Mack truck – on its journey from Topeka last Friday, and it is now in Kansas City while heading to Las Vegas next week with scheduled stops to raise money for the USO. WIBW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Washburn University held several graduation ceremonies on Friday for nearly 100 nursing graduates along with business and law students — ceremonies for applied studies and arts students will take place today. WIBW
- ➤ Randolph Elementary students rode their bikes to school Friday in a bike train organized by the school, PTO and Topeka Community Cycle Project — the ride helped kids stay active while safely gathering at Central, Boswell, and Collins Park before school. WIBW

- ➤ The Shawnee Heights Fire District and the County Task Force deployed to Southwest Kansas on May 15 to help crews battle wildfires — the district said it remains fully staffed for local needs. WIBW
