The first annual Nighttime Food Truck Festival at Evergy Plaza drew one of the largest crowds ever on a summer night.

Energy Plaza manager Dylan Tyler said the event will lead to more food truck meetups this summer — vendors like DJ’s Diner Food Truck served New England classics with a Midwest twist — as the series grows.

Some Topeka high school graduates returned to Meadows Elementary on May 16 for its first Senior Walk—an event meant to reflect on their early school days and inspire current students.

Many of the graduates attended other ceremonies at Stormont Vail Events Center this weekend.

Over 200 Highland Park High School students graduated Saturday morning, receiving diplomas and earning over two million dollars in scholarships (with graduates such as Renae Easter headed to Wichita State and Gavin Igercic enrolling at Washburn).

Washburn University held its 160th commencement Saturday at White Concert Hall where students from the College of Arts and Sciences walked the stage as they looked forward to their future.

JoAnna Marks gave the speech and fellow graduate Jacob Hanna said he appreciated the support from Washburn — the ceremonies later continued with the School of Law.

The Topeka High Trojans graduated Saturday morning at Stormont Vail Events Center—where over 400 students earned diplomas—and families cheered as seniors prepared for college and career paths.

The City of Topeka invites residents to a one-hour info session to learn how to host National Night Out events and receive up to $200—one session is on May 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and another on May 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—at 620 SE Madison Avenue's 1st Floor Conference Room.
