Topeka native Nija Canady, a Texas Tech alum, made her professional softball debut Sunday with the Texas Blaze in a game against the Carolina Blaze.
She pitched 2.1 innings out of the bullpen after signing her first pro contract over the weekend.
KU alum Kevin McCullar Jr. became the 17th Jayhawk to win an NBA championship as the Knicks clinched their first title in over 50 years last night, and he played 59 games in two seasons at KU before joining the team mid-season.
