GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach sent letters on June 25 and July 7 asking state officials to remove nondiscrimination language from contracts involving USDA funds—he claims the language conflicts with federal orders and may risk school funding. The State Board said it must follow state procurement laws and will keep working with schools for a resolution.  WIBW

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, nearly 250 BMX riders from age 5 to 76 raced at Heartland BMX’s state qualifiers — the second of three events. Track operator Sydney Akin said the race brought a family atmosphere while a fundraiser on Saturday raised nearly $3,000 for leukemia and lymphoma patients.  WIBW
