- ➤ On July 18, the Wanamaker Club Car Wash raised more than $10,000 for the Children's Miracle Network at Stormont Vail. The Stormont Vail Foundation received the check at the car wash where Miracle Kid Austin and his family were in attendance. WIBW
- ➤ The 190th Air Refueling Wing from Topeka supported flood relief in Texas on July 13 by flying 12 firefighters and four K+9 handlers from the Czech Emergency Response Team at Ramstein Air Base to help in the affected areas. Kansas state agencies also sent boats, ATVs and swift-water rescue teams to assist with recovery efforts. KSNT

- ➤ Police say an argument at a local apartment complex led to a hit-and-run on July 18 when a driver crashed into a nearby building in the 3500 block of Southwest 29th Street—no injuries were reported and one person was arrested for aggravated assault. KSNT
- ➤ The Kansas State Fire Marshal identified 47-year-old Toka Flickinger as the victim of an arson house fire that trapped her in a bathroom in Auburn on July 17—police responded after a neighbor’s 911 call following a domestic-related incident and are not seeking suspects at this time. KSNT
- ➤ The Shawnee County Department of Corrections warned locals of a phone scam where callers use inmate records to contact family about bond payments by posing as employees of the Adult Detention Center — residents are urged to verify bond details only through official ADC channels. WIBW

- ➤ The Topeka Performing Arts Center will host 'Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters' on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m., with singer Lisa Rock and a six-piece band performing classic hits and sharing stories about Karen Carpenter—tickets start at $20. WIBW
