  • Today, children and teens gathered for a 4H horse show as twin sisters Paige and Alexis Chockley competed with their horses Cowboy and Bodhi—one of only three yearly events for youth riders in the area. The show leads up to the Shawnee County fair at Stormont Vail event center next weekend.  WIBW

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Topeka man, 66-year-old Mark Moore, went missing late Saturday night and was found dead after drowning at Council Grove City Lake—his body was recovered around 11:29 p.m. after police received a report at 9:35 p.m.  KSNT

  • Cold Stone Creamery in Topeka celebrated National Ice Cream Day today despite the rain—drawing many families and recording one of its busiest days, according to assistant manager Aya Berry.  WIBW

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Topeka men were arrested for meth possession following a traffic stop on Friday, July 18 in NW Topeka Boulevard — they face felony narcotics charges as the investigation continues.  WIBW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kansas Medicaid dental rates increased on July 1 after the Legislature appropriated $10m to boost payments for exams, cleanings and fillings—more than 75 dental providers helped guide the changes and the move marks the first significant rate update in over 25 years.  WIBW
