- ➤ Authorities said Andrew Larsen, a Topeka man driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Monday morning after his vehicle collided with a 2025 Peterbilt semitrailer on I-70 near the Lecompton exit in a construction zone—both drivers wore seat belts and the semitrailer’s driver was uninjured. - ➤ A Topeka man, 24-year-old Wisdom Curls, was charged with first degree murder on July 23 after authorities concluded the alleged killing of 72-year-old Terry Keller that occurred on July 15 in the 1500 block of SW Clay Street — he faces multiple felony charges and is held on a $1,000,000 bond. - ➤ The Kansas Corporation Commission approved a unanimous settlement agreement that lets Black Hills Energy raise natural gas rates to recover service costs. Residential customers using about 53.6 therms will see a roughly $5.96 monthly increase effective August 1— the settlement also secures an additional $10.8 million in incremental revenue and refunds $2.9 million in excess tax.
