Team Conecta hosted the Kick for Kindness kickball tournament on Aug.
1 at Gage Park Accessible Diamond and raised funds for Street Team Ministry. Local companies such as Prime Realty, 785 Hauling and Dumpster Services + JR’s Painting Services joined the event to support the cause.
🎭 Culture
The Sonus Chamber Choir opened its first season yesterday at Topeka’s Great Overland Station with a star-themed concert titled “Give Me Your Stars to Hold” (it aimed to raise awareness about light pollution).
The choir will perform again Sunday at Manhattan’s Flint Hills Discovery Center.
A Topeka nonprofit is restoring Locomotive 3463—a 1937 engine that has stood by the Stormont Vail Events Center parking lot since 1984.
The group repairs key parts and seeks city and county help to move it to a roofed space where visitors can learn from it.
Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library hosted an End of Summer Celebration Saturday morning at the library, drawing kids with fun activities and marking the close of the Summer Reading Program while showcasing its active partnership with Shawnee County Parks + Recreation.
