COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At the 4-H Open Horse Show held last Sunday in Domer Arena, riders and horses competed in all-day events that brought the local community together. Participants said the event fostered a family atmosphere—everyone cheered one another on while sharing a love for horses.  WIBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 14, 2025, Shawnee County commissioners toured the Maner Conference Centre to check the facility needed before the Hotel Topeka sale — they inspected the ballroom, kitchen, and hallways while noting that temporary air conditioning units were in use.  The Topeka Capital-Journal
  • Kansas lawmakers in Washington have avoided answering tough questions by using scripted appearances plus short op-eds instead of detailed interviews about a reconciliation bill that many Kansans see as harmful to jobs and health care. They have not provided clear responses to reporters seeking direct dialogue on key issues.  Kansas Reflector

SPORTS NEWS

  • Coach Bill Self explained that graduate guard Nginyu Ngala was recruited to add experienced ball-handling and perimeter shooting to the team—he is not expected to start and will play alongside key players who showed strong summer improvements.
