ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Topeka Police Department was working the scene of a vehicle—scooter crash near 18th and Madison Street early yesterday after being called at 6:45 a.m., and one person was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. KSNT

- ➤ A Topeka Walmart is redesigning its checkout area at 1301 Southwest 37th Street to better serve local shoppers. Store staff are updating the layout to add self-check registers on both the grocery and general merchandise sides — giving customers more options when they check out. KSNT

- ➤ Riley County Police are asking local residents to review their doorbell and security camera footage to help identify a suspect who burglarized several vehicles in the Dix Addition of Manhattan on Aug 21 between midnight and 5 a.m.—tips should be emailed to Detective Eric Beaubien. WIBW
- ➤ A Shawnee County judge sentenced local man Michael S. Lester, 40, to life in prison without parole — with an additional 44 months on related charges — for causing the 2023 crash that killed Topeka mom Alycia Noriega, 33. KSNT

- ➤ Nick Haney of Cider Days told 27 News that the 44th annual fall festival—set to be hosted at Stormont Vail Events Center on September 20 and 21—will offer early bird tickets for $8 at local Dillons and $10 at the door, with Ticket Master also selling tickets. KSNT
