Topeka’s Boys and Girls Club hosted its inaugural 'Heroes on the Diamond' softball tournament Saturday at Felker Park — the event honored local first responders and raised funds for the organization.

The club plans to expand future tournaments to include teachers and nurses.

Two sculptures celebrated at Washburn's Mulvane Art Museum will leave campus in September — one is a monarch butterfly crafted by local students that will remain in Topeka and the other, 'ZoraBelle,' a penguin made from beach debris and part of the national Washed Ashore exhibit.
