Arab Shrine Clowns will host a wine tasting and auction fundraiser on Sept.
19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Topeka Shrine Temple (1305 S. Kansas Ave) and hold a free child screening clinic for musculoskeletal issues at Lawrence Public Library on Sept. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Indy Races 2026 will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept.
19 at Lake Shawnee’s Shelter 1 and offer 1 mile, 5K, 10K, and Around the Lake (6.8 mi) routes. Funds will support pediatric cancer patients and families through a four-year HOPE campaign with a $50 registration fee.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority announced that KTAG is now compatible with 19 toll agencies, allowing customers to travel further using a single transponder.
No action is needed as more E-ZPass agencies are expected to join soon.
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced that starting Tuesday, Sept.
8, the eastbound I-70 exit ramp to Topeka Boulevard will close for about two weeks, with traffic detoured via the MacVicar Avenue exit then 6th Avenue.

Kansas is seeking a contractor to build a 24/7 transportation system to help mental health and substance use crisis patients avoid police cars + emergency rooms.
The service, using vehicles with trained personnel, is expected to launch in some areas within three to six months.

High school football season opened with Topeka West hosting Kansas City-Piper last night, where players and fans battled unusually high temperatures while teams adjusted practice schedules to stay safe.
Players stressed hydration & brought extra supplies to manage the heat during the game.
K-State’s men’s and women’s cross country teams won the titles with 19 and 20 points at the Platte River Rumble Gold meet at Eugene T.
Mahoney State Park Friday (marking their first simultaneous win since Sept. 17, 2022). They will next race on Sept. 25 in Columbia, Mo.
Kansas Jayhawks defeated Long Island 51-6 in their season opener, with Isaiah Marshall completing 14-of-19 passes for 246 yards and 2 touchdowns.
They will face Missouri on Sept. 11.
