The Wabaunsee Co. Mountain Oyster Fry event is set for Saturday, Sept.
19 at Newbury Hall in Paxico and includes a community meal (featuring pulled pork and sides), auction and a vote to name a giant inflatable bull to support families facing major medical bills.
The Manhattan is a disco-themed fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Riley County, set for Saturday, Sept.
26 at the K-State Alumni Assoc. Center. The event will offer special drinks & raffles, live and silent auctions to support youth mentoring programs.
Today, multiple remembrance events mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 in northeast Kansas.
In Topeka, schools hold flag raising ceremonies and moments of silence while Fort Riley, Lawrence, and Emporia offer tributes (with events scheduled from early morning to evening).
Midland Care honored community champions who support local health care at a gala in Topeka Thursday night, led by Melissa Brunner (13's).
The event also raised funds for its Meals on Wheels program.

10 with a ribbon-cutting celebration featuring fall arrivals and giveaways. The locally owned boutique moved from downtown to offer its personalized shopping as mall officials welcomed its growth.

Topeka Civic Theatre postponed weekend performances of Peter Pan Goes Wrong to Thursday, Sept.
17 due to mechanical issues + the box office will contact those with weekend tickets for next steps.

A federal judge struck down a Kansas law on Sept.
9 that let undocumented students pay in-state tuition, and Attorney General Kris Kobach led the legal challenge with a U.S. Department of Justice suit backing the ruling, which took effect immediately.
🏥 Health
Stormont Vail Behavioral Health in Topeka now uses the GeneSight genetic test to better match patients with mental health medications using a cheek swab to assess drug metabolism.
The report shows which medications need adjustments and costs around ($350).
