  • Residents enjoyed the Topeka Rose Show at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library on Saturday—voting on a range of roses as the winning bloom earned top honors, and Topeka Rose Society President Bill Klecan noted that many visitors smiled when they saw the displays.  KSNT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Washburn University library held the 14th annual Kansas Book Festival on Sept. 20 where 50 authors shared stories tied to Kansas. Festival director Tim Bascom said the event brought in voices like Bill Kurtis and Marian Washington — a nod to the state’s rich literary heritage.  WIBW
