COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On September 27, the first Kansas Honey Festival was held at Old Prairie Town, where local vendors and producers shared sweet samples and celebrated locally made honey. Tim Urich of T Creek Bees and Honey and recreation supervisor Chris Curtis said strong turnout filled half the park—organizers plan to expand the festival next year.  WIBW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Constitution Hall opened its doors on Saturday, Sept. 27 to let Topekans explore its key role in the Underground Railroad and community history. The building—saved from demolition in 1998—will have new exhibits installed in late 2026 to highlight its historic significance.  WIBW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washburn University hosted Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 27, where students and their families enjoyed bounce houses – live music, games and face painting – along with a tailgate before the football game. Parents noted the event brought the community together and praised their college student's growth.  WIBW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Sept. 27, neighbors brought broken items to the CRC Care Center at Stout where volunteers fixed them at Full Circle’s first Fix-It Clinic—giving old items new life. Donations were accepted to support future clinics.  WIBW

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, September 27, the Kansas Jayhawks fell to Cincinnati 37-34 at home in Lawrence—dropping their record to 3-2 as quarterback Jalon Daniels threw a 93-yard touchdown pass.  KSNT
