  • The American Red Cross of Greater Kansas is hosting a food and hygiene drive today through Nov. 7 to support local military families amid a government shutdown. Donors can drop off needed items at the Armed Forces Reserve Center (7116 SE Forbes Avenue, open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or at Fort Riley (210 S Custer Room 007, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).  WIBW

  • Topeka’s pumpkin house is on full display with 340 carved foam pumpkins that have been a local tradition for 11 years — the exhibit is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. at 15th and Jewell Ave in College Hill.  KSNT
