COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Arab Shriners held a Fall Ceremonial on Nov. 8 that welcomed 25 new members who had completed the requirements to become Freemasons and chosen the organization as their brother group. The ceremony began at 9 a.m. on the 1300 block of South Kansas Avenue and celebrated community giving back — including support for local hospitals and children. WIBW
- ➤ The Topeka community gathered nearly 500 toys and a trunk load of food donations at a holiday event hosted by Dugout sports bar and grill—volunteer Gary McArdle said the collections will benefit local kids. The donated money will also go to support the toy drives that care for Topeka residents. KSNT
- ➤ At a November 2 service, Roca Fuerte Pentecostal Church—1101 SE Lafayette St.—featured a sermon on the Holy Spirit by senior pastor Jonas Franco that included music and healing testimonies. The church holds Sunday services at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. as well as evening services on Wednesday and Friday. The Topeka Capital-Journal
- ➤ Topekans got an inside look at Fire Station 2 during an open house this weekend — visitors met firefighters, sat in a truck, and toured the facility. Fire Station 4 will host another open house on January 10th for community members to learn more about their services. KSNT
- ➤ On Saturday, the Ball family held a smash pumpkin day at Shively Farms to honor their daughter Melisa who died from cancer three years ago. The farm hosted its first event and brought friends & supporters together to raise awareness of the disease. KSNT

- ➤ Valeo Behavioral Health hosted its largest fundraiser on November 8th—its 6th annual Unmasking the Stigma gala raised funds to support mental health and addiction care, and keynote speaker Liz Murray shared her inspiring journey from homelessness to college success. WIBW
