COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Harvesters announced on Sunday that mobile food distributions at Stormont Vail Events Center have been permanently moved to every third Tuesday, with the event on Nov 11 rescheduled to Nov 18. The distributions will take place in the east parking lot from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and are expected to affect 400 to 500 families. WIBW
- ➤ Feed The People Topeka hosted a taco feast at Gil Carter Initiative to support locals who lost SNAP funding—free tacos, music, and games helped bring neighbors together. Several community volunteers served the event while the nonprofit plans more gatherings to aid families in need. WIBW

- ➤ On Nov. 9, the Topeka and Shawnee County Library held a talk back at the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery where featured artist Judith White from Looking Glass Tattoo shared her art history and advice while showing unfinished work—giving locals an inside look at her creative process. White, a former library employee, connected personally with the audience through her diverse art pieces. WIBW
- ➤ The Miss November pageant was held Sunday at the Beverly Bernardi Post Conservatory of Dance — drawing contestants from Emporia and Kansas City. Participants competed in casual wear, interview, and formal wear categories as organizers stressed that everyone feels beautiful in their own unique way — uniting the event around a message of self-worth. - ➤ The Topeka Tenants group worked with Kansas Legal Services to teach renters about their rights and the need to take pictures and keep written records of lease agreements and repairs—steps meant to protect renters if landlords fail to meet obligations. Attorney Nick Blessing explained that tenants are not forced to renew leases and can use a 14/30 notice to formally end a lease if issues remain unresolved. The Topeka Capital-Journal
