- ➤ The Topeka AAA store is hosting a Holiday Joy Drive to help kids and teens in foster care served by KVC Kansas until Dec. 16—donors can drop off new, unwrapped toys, gift cards, and clothing at 1223 SW Wanamaker Rd., Ste. 100 during store hours. WIBW
- ➤ On Saturday, The Beacon hosted its second annual holiday market — where local vendors sold items like cutting boards, soaps, and jewelry — and one vendor noted that shopping local helps small businesses grow. The event provided a chance for the community to support local trade as the Christmas season approaches. KSNT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Grace Cathedral hosted events this week to mark 50 years since a fire—started by an arsonist—that destroyed most of the building on November 26. Local community members shared memories and toured the rebuilt church as they reflected on the rebuilding efforts. WIBW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Topeka utilities now offer three water bill help programs (the Water Assistance, Utility Rate Refund, and donation-based WaterShare) for Shawnee County residents who meet income guidelines (up to 200% of poverty).
