- ➤ Be Filled of South Topeka supports Montara by providing food, clothing and hygiene items from its new space at 7127 SE Forbes Ave., Building 449C. The volunteer-run group now offers Tuesday evenings (6 to 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday mornings (9 to 11:30 a.m.) services to reduce transportation barriers. WIBW
- ➤ The Sweet Shoppe returns to Highland Park UMC with baked treats for the holidays + proceeds will support local ministries like food pantries and care homes. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2914 SE Michigan. WIBW

- ➤ A sewage spill occurred at the Oakland Wastewater Treatment Plant on December 6. City officials said crews contained the overflow near Poplar (and Grant Streets) as test results confirmed no public health risk and the plant resumed normal operations. The Topeka Capital-Journal
