- ➤ The Topeka Zoo will host a Toast at Ten with music, dancing and a full dinner at the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden on Dec. 31 from 6 to 10:30 p.m. and will accept nonworking holiday lights for recycling through Jan. 15 to support its conservation fund. WIBW

- ➤ On Dec. 10, the Joint Economic Development Organization approved retention incentives for two local manufacturers in Shawnee County — one received $383,000 and the other $147,000 to add 19 jobs in five years.
