- ➤ Harvesters held its monthly food drive Tuesday morning at Stormont Vail Events Center where hundreds of vehicles queued to pick up free groceries and fed about 275 to 300 families. WIBW
- ➤ United Way of Kaw Valley raised $45,317 toward its $60,000 goal for holiday support as of Tuesday, Dec. 16 + the nonprofit still seeks donations to help local families celebrate the season. WIBW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ University leaders from KU, K-State, Emporia State and Wichita State met with the House Select Committee on Government Oversight Tuesday to discuss DEI laws. They explained how campuses are complying with federal and state rules while working to support student success. WIBW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Federal funding for the Navigator program that helped Kansans enroll in Medicaid and ACA dropped 90% after its budget fell from $1.5 million to $150,000, reducing local enrollment support. Experts say the reduction may lead to fewer guides in clinics and a rise in uninsured residents. Kansas Reflector
- ➤ Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka are in active negotiations for reimbursement rates as their current agreement expires Dec. 31 (when eligible patients may access a 90-day extension via a Continuity of Care form). WIBW
