HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kansas Department of Agriculture warned poultry owners that avian influenza—driven by migrating wild birds this fall—has resurfaced and may affect backyard flocks. The agency said the virus is not a food safety concern and urged owners to enhance biosecurity measures. WIBW
- ➤ The University of Kansas Cancer Center's new research complex is now estimated at $329 million—an increase driven by plans for 70,000 sqft extra labs and rising construction costs. Ground was broken in May and the facility will be operational by February 2028. Kansas Reflector
