COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Many families and children enjoyed sledding on Jan. 25 at Quinton Heights and Lake Shawnee as locals took advantage of fresh snow + a newcomer from Texas tried sledding for the first time.  The Topeka Capital-Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Topeka’s streets still hold 7.2 inches of light, powdery snow as temperatures remain below freezing; crews monitor conditions and plan to plow only if hazardous drifting occurs. A modest warm-up is forecast for Tuesday, but wintry weather will persist for most of the week.  The Topeka Capital-Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials reported on Sunday that crews treated arterials, collector streets, bridges, and known trouble spots while residential roads are not being plowed due to light, powdery snow; they will monitor conditions and respond to reports if roads become impassable, and some schools have closed today.  WIBW
