ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Topeka Fire Department crews responded at 4:52 a.m. Monday to a garage fire in the alley of the 1100 block of S.W. Boswell near the intersection of S.W. 12th and Boswell — a dumpster and nearby fence were also burning. WIBW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Topeka Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Sunday at the 3100 block of SE Emerson Street where officers found an adult woman with multiple gunshot wounds—she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a suspect was taken into custody. WIBW
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Kansas Global Cuisines and Cultures Week runs from Sunday, March 16 until Saturday, March 22 and will showcase international foods, art, and cultural events across local communities. The Global Resources team organized the celebration to foster cultural exchanges — a sign of Kansas’s growing international ties. WIBW

- ➤ Washburn University named Dr. Sara Stepp interim director of the Mulvane Art Museum—she began her role immediately after working as an academic curator. She has more than eight years of museum experience and a doctorate in art history from the University of Kansas and is set to lead the museum for campus and local visitors. WIBW
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 16th, thousands of Kansas wrestlers gathered at Stormont Vail Event Center in Topeka for a three-day state championship that filled the parking lot with fans and visitors. Executive Director Mike Bell said organizers plan to host the event for five more years—expanding the mats to allow more competitors. WIBW
- ➤ Washburn beat Concordia-St. Paul 94-78 on Sunday in the NCAA Central Regional Semifinals as the team shot 53% from the field with Jacob Hanna scoring 24 points and Jack Bachelor adding 21 — Washburn will host Minnesota State University Moorhead on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lee Arena. WIBW
